My experience
- Studied music at the Guildhall School of Music ( London) in 1982.
- Studied Piano, privately, under broadcast Pianists, Peter Lawson (teacher at Chethams School of Music).
- Accompanist in concerts, shows and for cabaret since the age of 14, and from the age of 16, accompanying and musical directing variety shows and musical productions, notably; ‘Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang’, which starred Robbie Williams as a young boy. The Assistant Rehearsal Pianists for the North Staffs Operatic Society at 16 and at 24 the accompanists for the North Staffs Music Hall Society.
- Undertaken numerous engagements as cocktail pianists for private functions and dinner parties and given piano recitals in churches as far as Wigan and for local Masonic lodges.
- Ex- accompanist for Stone Male Voice Choir Deputy Musical Director. Helped to enhance the choirs performance by creating orchestral sounds with her own arrangements on a Roland digital stage Piano and has appeared as a solo performer in their concerts.
- The wife(now widowed) of Ray Bernard (worlds leading exponent of the Ukulele and entertainer), and has appeared with him as both accompanist and soloist in Sweden and at many other venues including St. Georges Hall-Liverpool, in tribute to George Harrison, entertaining the audience with pieces at George’s home Friar Park.
- Has been the accompanist for local stage shows and cabaret since 1998 and is the regular accompanist for Virginia Meir, appearing with Virginia at venues such as, the Theatre Royal( Stoke on Trent) for B.B.C Music Live ( broadcast on local radio in the summer of 2000) and at the Palace Hotel in Manchester in October 2000. She has accompanied Virginia for numerous after dinner cabarets and served as Musical Director for ‘Milita’ at the Stoke Repertory Theatre.
- A qualified Teacher of music and owns her own Private Piano Teaching Practice in the Alsager area and she is a professionally registered teacher with the ISM.
- Official accompanist and Entrants Co-ordinator for Newcastle Festival.
- Recently recorded two C’Ds:Karen in Recital -The Jazz Album and Karen Sings -The Other Side of Me.
- Karen performs for her own local Rotary Club Alsager and entertains at the annual Pensioners Show .
- Has a wide repertoire from Classical to Jazz and Pop.
